Purple Ski

Financial Controller

France Winter Season

About Purple Ski

Purple Ski is a leading luxury chalet operator, delivering exceptional catered chalet holidays across the French Alps. Our reputation is built on outstanding service, luxury accommodation and meticulous attention to detail.

For the winter season, we are looking for an experienced and/or competent Financial Controller to take ownership of the company's winter financial operations while supporting procurement and supplier management across our resorts.

What does the job look like?

As Financial Controller, you will oversee the financial management of Purple Ski, ensuring accurate reporting, robust financial controls and effective budget management throughout the winter season.

Alongside your finance responsibilities, you will manage procurement for resort operations in conjunction with our head office buying department.

This is a seasonal role based in the French Alps. It is not a typical Monday to Friday, 9 to 5 position. The winter season is fast paced, demanding and constantly evolving. While you will have scheduled days off, the business operates seven days a week, so flexibility and a willingness to adapt are essential.

This is also far more than a desk based finance role. You will work closely with Resort Managers, chefs and operational teams, giving you real influence over how the business performs. You will be expected to understand the operation, make commercially sound decisions and respond confidently to the challenges that arise during a busy winter season.

If you enjoy taking ownership, solving problems and working in an environment where no two days are the same, this is an opportunity to play a key role in one of the Alps' leading luxury chalet operators.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day financial operations of the business, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company procedures.

• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.

• Monitor expenditure against budgets and identify opportunities to improve financial performance.

• Purchase food, beverages, housekeeping products, maintenance supplies and operational equipment in accordance with company procedures.

• Build and maintain supplier relationships while negotiating competitive pricing and service agreements.

• Support the preparation of payroll.

• Understand French VAT requirements and financial regulations.

• Work closely with Resort Managers and chefs to ensure the timely delivery of supplies across all resorts.

About You
You have experience within the ski industry and understand the operational demands of a luxury chalet business. Alternatively, you are a qualified accountant with the commercial awareness, adaptability and drive to quickly learn the unique demands of a seasonal hospitality operation.

What does it take to succeed in this role?
To thrive in this role, you will have:
• A good working knowledge of spoken and written French, with the confidence to communicate effectively with local suppliers and colleagues.
• Strong financial and commercial acumen, with excellent analytical and organisational skills.
• Excellent communication and social skills.
• A flexible, hands on approach and the ability to adapt quickly as operational priorities change.
• A genuine interest in understanding both the financial and operational sides of the business.
