    Background

I’ve worked in catering for a good number of years now, from busy restaurants to more fine dining setups, and I genuinely love it. I’m confident running a section, keeping cool under pressure, and making sure guests feel looked after, whether that be during a full dinner service or just grabbing a quick coffee between runs. I’m always up for getting stuck in, working hard as part of a team, and bringing good vibes wherever I go. I’ve never done a ski season before and can see how full-on but fun it can be, but having skied and snowboarded my whole life, I'm keen to get to the mountains, meet new people, make the most of the experience both on and off the slopes and ultimately fulfil my dream of doing a ski season.

    Job experience

    • January 2025 - present
      Kitchen Assistance / Kitchen Porter
      The Visto Lounge
      Torquay

Currently working as a Kitchen Porter, where I support the kitchen team with day-to-day operations including cleaning and closing. At the end of each shift I must go through a checklist and ensure my workspace is clean and up to regulatory standards. I also do dishwashing, and food prep. This entails prepping vegetables and assisting the chefs with cooking around the kitchen. I've developed a strong understanding of kitchen flow and hygiene standards, and I take pride in keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes. I’m eager to take the next step, and have been actively learning more about both kitchen and front-of-house roles to prepare for more responsibility. I’ve shown initiative, reliability, and a strong work ethic — qualities that I believe will help me grow into a more advanced role within the team.

    • October 2023 - January 2024
      Bar staff / Waiter
      The Cott Inn
      Totnes, UK

Working in both bar and table service roles, I helped create a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere for guests. I handled customer queries calmly and professionally, always aiming to find the right solution. Teamwork was a big part of this role, especially during busy shifts, and I worked closely with both kitchen and FOH teams to keep things running smoothly. In this role I didn't have many cleaning and cooking responsibilities beyond clearing tables and sanitising, however occasionally I would prepare salads and desserts when it became very busy.

    • September 2022 - December 2022
      Waiter
      The Orange Tree Restaurant
      Torquay, UK

At this fine dining restaurant, the standards were high, and I quickly learned the importance of attention to detail and polished service. I greeted guests, served meals with care, and upheld the professional image of the restaurant. This experience gave me a real appreciation for the pace and precision required in high-end hospitality.

    • May 2019 - July 2022
Waiter / Kitchen Porter / Assistant Chef
      The Curious Kitchen
      Brixham, UK

This role gave me a broad skill set, as I supported both front and back of house. I worked alongside the head chef during busy periods, I prepped ingredients, and helped keep the kitchen clean and efficient. On the floor, I took orders, interacted with customers, and made sure everyone had a great experience. I often had to switch between roles on the fly, which taught me how to stay adaptable and focused in fast-paced environments. At the end of each shift I had the responsibility of ensuring my section in the kitchen was clean and sanitised appropriately.
